Connecting Google Ads

AdProtektor connects to Google Ads through a manager account link. Enter your Customer ID, accept the invitation and confirm the connection is active. Permissions, account state and platform availability can still interrupt a connection.

On this page

Most tools connect to Google Ads with OAuth, which means a token that expires, a re-authorisation prompt you will eventually miss, and a silent gap in protection when it lapses. AdProtektor uses a manager-account link instead. Once accepted, it stays.

How to connect

  1. Find your Customer ID

It is the ten-digit number shown at the top right of your Google Ads account, formatted like 123-456-7890.

  2. Enter it in AdProtektor

Go to Settings → Integrations for your website and add the Customer ID.

  3. Accept the invitation in Google Ads

Google Ads shows a pending manager-account request under Admin → Access and security → Managers. Accept it.

  4. Confirm the link

Back in AdProtektor, the connection flips from pending to active. This can take a few minutes to propagate on Google's side.

You keep full ownership

A manager link grants managed access — it does not transfer ownership of your account, and you can revoke it from Google Ads at any time.

What the connection enables

  • Automatic IP exclusion — blocked IPs are written into your exclusion lists. See IP exclusion sync.
  • Campaign selection — target exclusions at specific campaigns. See Campaign selection.
  • Automatic UTM tagging — attribute sessions to campaign, keyword and ad group without a redirect tracker. See Tracking templates and UTMs.
  • Cost data — real cost-per-click figures make your budget-protected number accurate rather than estimated.
  • Google Enhanced Conversions for Web — reused by ConversionOS with no extra setup.

If the invitation does not arrive

  1. Check the Customer ID is the advertising account you meant, not your own manager account.
  2. Look under Admin → Access and security → Managers in Google Ads, where pending requests appear.
  3. Confirm you have admin rights on the account — a standard user cannot accept a manager invitation.
  4. Allow a few minutes; Google propagates these asynchronously.

Frequently asked questions

Does the connection ever expire?

No. Because it is a manager-account link rather than an OAuth grant, there is no token to refresh and nothing to re-authorise.

Can I connect more than one Google Ads account?

Yes. Each website has its own connection, so a multi-website account can link a different Google Ads account per site.

How do I disconnect?

Remove the link from AdProtektor, or revoke the manager access from Google Ads directly. Either ends the connection.
