Quick start
Five steps get you fully protected: add your website, install the tracking script, verify it is reporting, connect Google Ads, and turn on automatic blocking. The Setup Guide in your dashboard tracks all of them and shows what is left.
Follow along in the app
Your dashboard has a Setup Guide — the progress ring in the top navigation. It tracks these same steps against your real account state and deep-links to each one, so you can leave and pick up where you stopped.
The five steps
Add your website
Enter the domain you want to protect. You can add more later, up to your plan limit. See Adding more websites.
Install the tracking script
Paste one line of JavaScript before the closing </head> tag, or install our WordPress or Shopify app. See Installing the tracking script.
Verify the installation
Nothing is detected until the script reports from your site. Verification confirms it is live. See Verifying your installation.
Connect Google Ads
Enter your Customer ID and accept one invitation. This is what lets AdProtektor add fraudulent IPs to your exclusion lists automatically. See Connecting Google Ads.
Turn on automatic blocking
Until this is on, AdProtektor detects fraud but does not act on it. See Automatic blocking.
What happens next
Detection starts the moment the script reports its first visit. You will usually see traffic appear in the dashboard within minutes and the first blocks within hours, depending on your ad volume — a site with heavy paid traffic surfaces fraud much faster than one with a handful of clicks a day.
Give it a few days before judging the numbers
Person clustering gets more accurate as it sees more of a visitor. Early block rates can look low or high; after a few days of real traffic the picture stabilises.
Two optional steps worth doing
- Pick your industry profile. Applies blocking rules and risk benchmarks tuned to your sector in one click. See Industry profiles.
- Create an alert rule. Get notified when fraud crosses a threshold instead of finding out at your next login. See Alerts.
Frequently asked questions
How long does setup take?
Ten to fifteen minutes for most sites. The script install is a copy-paste, and the Google Ads connection is a Customer ID plus accepting one invitation — there are no OAuth tokens to configure.
Do I need a developer?
Not usually. WordPress and Shopify are one-click installs, and most site builders have a place to paste a script tag. A developer helps only if your site has an unusual custom stack.
