Click fraud protection for Meta ads
AdProtektor scores every visit from your Facebook and Instagram ads, blocks repeat sources of invalid traffic and keeps a Meta exclusion audience in sync, so you can keep identified sources out of the campaigns you protect.

How protection reaches Meta
Detection happens on your website. Enforcement on Meta happens through an audience you exclude, which works differently from the IP exclusions AdProtektor uses for Google Ads.
Every visit is scored on your website
Blocked visitors go into a separate exclusion audience
You exclude that audience in your campaigns
A block is not instant audience enforcement
A blocked visitor, an audience submission and a matched campaign exclusion are separate stages. Setup steps and status checks are in the Meta protection documentation.
What you can see and verify
Protection runs automatically under your settings. The evidence behind each decision is in the dashboard when you want to check it.
- Real
- Crawler
- Bot
- Competitor
- Click Farm
- A threat score from 0 to 100 and a classification for every visit, with legitimate crawlers, including social link-preview bots, always whitelisted and never blocked.
- Visitor history: the sessions and IP addresses tied to one visitor identity, so you can see a repeat source for what it is.
- Session recordings of flagged visitors on Pro and higher plans. Disclose session recording in your privacy notice where required.
- Traffic broken down by source, campaign, country and device, plus blocked visitors and blocked IPs.
- A separate protection status for your website, your Google Ads account and your Meta account.
- Manual control when you need it: block or unblock any visitor, whitelist in one click and export to CSV.
Conversions that Meta counts once
ConversionOS is an optional add-on for server-side conversion tracking, and it pairs with your Meta protection.
ConversionOS sends each conversion to Meta through both the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API, with a shared event ID. Meta uses that ID to de-duplicate the pair, so dual-firing does not inflate your conversion counts. This is the setup Meta recommends, and Meta Test Events is supported so you can confirm de-duplication before you rely on the data.
Run alongside fraud protection, the two halves keep each other honest, and conversion events identified as fraudulent can be withheld from Meta under your configured settings.
Questions about Meta protection
Does Meta refund invalid clicks?
Meta has its own systems for handling invalid activity, and its own policies decide how that activity is treated. AdProtektor does not issue refunds or file refund claims with Meta. What it does is different: once a source is identified and blocked, it is added to your exclusion audience, so repeat traffic from that source stops reaching the campaigns where you apply the audience, subject to Meta’s matching. The visit that led to detection has already happened.
Why an exclusion audience instead of IP blocking?
AdProtektor’s Meta integration works through a Custom Audience exclusion, a different mechanism from its Google Ads IP-exclusion sync. Eligible blocked visitors are kept in a separately maintained audience that you exclude from your campaigns, and its membership is synced hourly.
How quickly does a block take effect in Meta?
For active linked accounts, audience membership is synced hourly, including removal of expired or unblocked entries. After that, Meta matches and processes the audience and your campaign audience settings apply. A blocked visitor, an audience submission and a matched campaign exclusion are separate stages, so a block on your website is not instant enforcement in every placement.
Will every blocked visitor be excluded from my ads?
No. The identifiers available for a visitor, Meta’s matching and processing, and your campaign configuration all limit coverage. Check the integration and audience status when you review protection.
Can it block real customers?
Mistakes are possible with any detection, so every decision stays reviewable. You set the threat threshold, can inspect the evidence behind a block, and can unblock or whitelist a visitor in one click. Unblocked visitors are removed from the exclusion audience by the hourly sync. Legitimate crawlers are always whitelisted.
Do I need Google Ads to use it?
No. The Meta and Google Ads integrations are configured independently. The same script and dashboard cover both, so you can add the other platform later.
