Click fraud protection for lawyers and law firms

A single new client can matter a great deal to a firm, so practice-area keywords are expensive and contested. That makes every repeated or automated click a costly one. AdProtektor scores each paid visit, blocks the sources your rules cover and keeps the reason behind every decision so you can review it.

The exposure

Why paid traffic in this industry attracts invalid clicks

  1. Practice-area searches such as personal injury, criminal defense or family law carry strong intent, so the keywords behind them are expensive.

  2. Firms compete for the same local searches, and a rival clicking your ads repeatedly looks like an ordinary prospect on any single visit.

  3. Legal and insurance keywords attract competitor clicking, which only becomes visible when you look at repeat visits together.

  4. Consultation and contact forms attract spam and automated submissions that take time away from your intake team.

What to check

What to set up and watch in AdProtektor

Protection runs automatically once your rules are set. These are the settings and signals worth a look first.

Review traffic labelled Competitor

The Competitor category marks patterns consistent with suspicious repeat clicking. It does not identify which firm is behind them, but together with the top attacked keywords on your dashboard it shows which practice areas draw that pattern.

Consider Paranoia Mode for your most expensive campaigns

Paranoia Mode is an optional Google Ads rule that acts when the number of ad-landing sessions from an IP reaches the threshold you set within a time window. Prospects sometimes return while comparing firms, so check its effect on legitimate repeat visits before relying on it.

Start from the Law/Legal industry profile

In Settings → Industry, applying the Law/Legal profile sets click protection, enforcement and block duration for the sector in one click. Everything it sets stays editable, so tune from there once you have a few days of your own data.
Industry profiles

Start from settings tuned to your sector

AdProtektor ships pre-built industry profiles, each with its own risk benchmarks and recommended rules. A profile's risk tier is what makes its recommendations more or less aggressive.

  1. Open Settings → Industry

For the website you want to configure.
  2. Find your industry

Search the list of profiles and pick the closest match rather than an exact one.
  3. Apply the recommended settings

This sets click protection, enforcement and block duration together. Everything stays editable afterwards.

A profile is a starting point, not a ceiling. Applying one replaces the protection values it covers, so review anything you have already tuned first. Read how industry profiles work

FAQ

Questions we hear from this industry

Could AdProtektor block a real client?

Strict settings can occasionally catch a genuine visitor, so the safeguards matter. Recognized crawlers such as Googlebot are always whitelisted, never blocked. Every block can be reviewed in the dashboard with the reason behind it, and you can whitelist a person or IP in one click. With the ConversionOS add-on, a blocked visitor who goes on to convert is unblocked automatically.

Can AdProtektor tell me which firm is clicking my ads?

No. The Competitor label describes a traffic pattern, not a business, and AdProtektor does not establish which company a visitor works for. What it can do is block that visitor according to your rules. Blocking by person follows the same browser across IP changes.

Does Google refund the clicks AdProtektor detects?

Not automatically. Blocking and exclusions aim to stop repeat clicks from the same source. For an invalid-traffic review, the Google Ads refund report packages the available evidence, and Google decides whether a click was invalid and whether any adjustment is due.

How does AdProtektor connect to Google Ads?

Through a manager account link: you enter your Customer ID and accept one invitation, with no OAuth token to expire. Eligible blocked IPs are then submitted to your IP exclusion lists at account or selected-campaign level, with an audit trail.
