Click fraud protection for plumbers, locksmiths, HVAC and roofing companies

Home service businesses pay for urgent, local searches where one booked job matters and every click is charged. AdProtektor scores each paid visit, applies the rules you set for your trade and service area, and shows why each visitor was blocked or allowed.

The exposure

Why paid traffic in this industry attracts invalid clicks

  1. Emergency searches such as a burst pipe, a lockout or a broken boiler carry strong intent, so the keywords behind them are expensive.

  2. Service areas are small and crowded, so a handful of local competitors bid on the same terms and can click each other’s ads.

  3. Local services attract lead-form spam: fake quote and callback requests take up time your team could spend on real jobs.

  4. Phone-number clicks from automated or fraudulent traffic make it harder to tell which campaigns actually produce booked work.

What to check

What to set up and watch in AdProtektor

Protection runs automatically once your rules are set. These are the settings and signals worth a look first.

Set a click-frequency rule for repeat local clicks

A rival clicking your ad a few times a day looks like an interested homeowner on any single visit. Click-frequency rules count paid ad-landing sessions within a window you choose and block a visitor once the threshold is exceeded. Set the threshold above what a genuine customer would plausibly do in that window.

Track calls and quote requests with ConversionOS

The ConversionOS add-on captures Lead events and Contact and phone clicks, and the WordPress plugin captures WPForms, Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7 and Elementor Pro submissions. With fraud protection active, configured checks can hold back events linked to blocked visitors and crawlers instead of sending them to your ad platforms.

Start from your trade’s industry profile

Settings → Industry has profiles for trades including Plumbing, Locksmith, HVAC and Electrician. Pick the closest match for your business, such as a neighboring trade for a roofing company, and apply its recommended click protection, enforcement and block duration in one click.
Industry profiles

Start from settings tuned to your sector

AdProtektor ships pre-built industry profiles, each with its own risk benchmarks and recommended rules. A profile's risk tier is what makes its recommendations more or less aggressive.

  1. Open Settings → Industry

For the website you want to configure.
  2. Find your industry

Search the list of profiles and pick the closest match rather than an exact one.
  3. Apply the recommended settings

This sets click protection, enforcement and block duration together. Everything stays editable afterwards.

A profile is a starting point, not a ceiling. Applying one replaces the protection values it covers, so review anything you have already tuned first. Read how industry profiles work

FAQ

Questions we hear from this industry

Could AdProtektor block a real homeowner?

Strict settings can occasionally catch a genuine visitor, so the safeguards matter. Recognized crawlers such as Googlebot are always whitelisted, never blocked. Every block can be reviewed in the dashboard with the reason behind it, and you can whitelist a person or IP in one click. With the ConversionOS add-on, a blocked visitor who goes on to convert is unblocked automatically.

What if my own staff or agency click our ads?

Whitelist them. Staff, agencies and testers who repeatedly click your live ads look exactly like repeat-click fraud. A whitelisted person or IP is exempt from automatic blocking but still appears in your analytics, so you keep visibility without the block.

Do I need a developer to install it?

Usually not. You add one lightweight script that loads asynchronously, install the WordPress plugin in one click, or follow a guided install for Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Google Tag Manager or any custom HTML site.

Can I protect only some of my campaigns?

Yes. Google Ads exclusions can apply at account level, or you can scope them to selected campaigns. That helps when only some service areas or trades are affected, or when different campaigns need different protection.

See what is clicking your ads

Install the script, connect your ad accounts and apply your industry profile. Protection runs on its own from there, and every decision stays open to review.
